Having said that, when you are writing for friends, there is no need for a theme. I would be most offended it every time a friend asked my round for a cup of tea they gave me a topic, a word limit and an agenda!
My friend Naomi kindly and thoughtfully left me her spotted teapot before moving away as she knew I liked spotted things. Spots don't need to be uniform, in fact spots look the best when they are randomly hand painted. Hence the name, I think she suggested it too!
